Exclusive Interview with the Best African Player, Sanaa Mssoudy
In this interview, we spotlight one of the brightest stars in the history of Moroccan women's football, Sanaa Mssoudy. Overcoming health and family challenges, she made a powerful comeback to the pitch and clinched the title of Africa's Best Player. Known for her exceptional technical and tactical skills, Sanaa opens up about her football journey, her playing style, how she balances sports and academics, and her vision for Moroccan football by 2030.

Q1. You took a two-season break due to health and family challenges. How did you manage this phase?
It was a tough period because the challenges came consecutively, from health issues to family concerns. But, thank ALLAH, I was fortunate to have a supportive family with a sports background, along with my teammates and the staff at AS FAR (Royal Army Club). They helped me maintain my mental strength and regain my physical fitness.
Their belief in my ability to return to the pitch and perform at a high level played a significant role in my comeback. I dedicate this award to them and am truly grateful for their support.

Q2. Your playing style has been compared to Sofiane Boufal's. Do you agree with this comparison?
I'm honored by the comparison to Sofiane Boufal, who is one of my favorite players because of his dribbling and style of play. I admire players with exceptional technical skills and try to learn from them. However, I'd prefer to be recognized as Sanae Mssoudy, with my own unique playing style, especially since it's rare for women to play football.
As for my position on the pitch, I'm at the coach's disposal and have no issues adapting to different roles. I can even play as a defender or goalkeeper if it means representing my country to the best of my ability.

Q3. What is the most important characteristic for excelling in both academics and sports?
To balance academics and sports, one needs patience, hard work, and self-confidence. It's also crucial to have a supportive environment and friends who encourage and motivate you. Hard work and trust in ALLAH are the keys to success, as He rewards those who put in the effort.
Undoubtedly, my education has significantly contributed to my football career. It has enhanced my gameplay, communication with teammates, and my ability to quickly implement coaches' instructions. The National Center for Sports at the Royal Institute for Youth and Sports, where I trained, has been instrumental. The combination of theoretical and practical training across various sports has benefited me greatly.

Q4. How does Sanae Mssoudy envision Morocco's future in football by 2030?
I have full confidence in the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and in the strategic vision implemented by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation under President Fouzi Lekjaa. Morocco has witnessed remarkable development, particularly in infrastructure.
Both men's and women's football have greatly benefited from this progress. By 2030, I believe Morocco will be a formidable opponent for any national team. The continuous improvement in facilities, training, and strategy ensures that Moroccan football is on an upward trajectory.
